No this doesn’t refer to the bends but only the moving pulleys. Some take-ups have more than one pulley in the carriage. Instead of 2 laps of belt, there might be 4 laps of belt with 2 pulleys attached to the counterweight. These types of take-ups are very common in underground mines where space is very limited. You get more belt storage with half the take-up travel. But it also takes twice as much force to get the same belt tension as well.
