What type of software application is used for computerized application sets?
Excel is used for several reasons: 1) Students must learn Excel fundamentals to work in business and accounting. 2) Proprietary educational accounting software requires students to spend a considerable amount of time learning how the software works. This time is wasted. They will not encounter the software in the business environment. 3) The Excel applications in the course are very robust. Journal entries are automatically posted, trial balances and financial statements are automatically built. The student is freed to concentrate on the journal entry and its impact on the accounting system.
