What type of scenarios are tackled in soap operas?
Many good answers have already been given, but I’d like to elaborate on two specifically. AMC has recently tackled the issues that soldiers and their families must deal with. One character, Brot, was a soldier in real life. His entire body (including his face) was severely burned. The injuries viewers see everyday are real. On one episode, they devoted a good amount of time to other real soldiers telling the stories of how they were injured. This took place in a group therapy session. Now Brot gives motivational speeches to soldiers returning home. Two other characters on the show (not in real life) are also former soldiers. Each has dealt with their own issues upon returning home. One wanted to go back very badly. Another did not want to go back but felt that it was his duty. We also see how this character’s mom/ dad/ wife/ friends and sibling react to his part in the war. Another issue recently dealt with was gay marriage. Erica Kane’s daughter is gay. A wedding ceremony was planned
If it’s got to do with life/love it’s mostly likely in a soap opera. Here’s a few things ,death ,murder ,pregnancy ,teenage pregnancy ,cancer ,deadly diseases ,multiple personalty’s ,any type of disorder ,rape, sex, witnessing a crime ,affairs , cheating ,lying ,growing up ,first kiss ,first boyfriend or girlfriend, first time having sex, marriage ,blackmail , miscarriages , stabbing someone in the back (so times literal ) ,drugs ,alcoholism ,being gay or straight ,divorce and things like that and also almost everything Sarah said happens on a soap.
