What type of scanner will be best for restoring old photos?

A scanner DOES NOT restore old pictures. It just puts the existing picture inside the computer the best way it can. It’s the software that you use to modify the picture afterward and your abbilities that count. Adobe Photoshop is very very good but you have to pay for it. But the Gimp is free and is also very good. You can find it at sourceforge.net $250 will buy you a very good scanner from Epson or HP. If you can fit many pictures inside the scanner, they will scan them sparately automatically. So you can probably scan 2 to 4 photos at a time.
