What type of professional development opportunities are available for staff?
Every week we hold an inservice for all professional staff. We select topics pertinent to your position in residence life and student affairs. Every full time staff member is required to present during this inservice time over the course of the year. The presentations topics this year have included: Marketing yourself through professional portfolios, Exploring legal issues around students, Competency Model Staff Development, Multiracial Students Today, Programming for the 2nd year student, Millenials in the Media, Can religion and spirtuality find a place in higher education, Outside the Box: Recognizing your staff, and Exploring current trends in Student Affairs and Housing. In additon to the weekly inservice, we offer opportunities for conferences, both regionally and nationally. Conferences we have sent staff to this year include: National Living and Learning Conference, GLACUHO, Tools for Social Justice, OPE, ACPA, and NASPA.
