A – Your pots must contain ferrous material. The principle of induction is based on a magnetic phenomenon. If a magnet sticks firmly to the bottom of the cookware, it’s a safe bet that it will work on an induction cooktop. Material that definitely won’t work with induction is glass, terra cotta, non magnetized stainless steel, copper and aluminium. It is recommended you do the magnet test first as some pots are made up of different materials. Most cookware that is induction compatible will display a logo on the packaging stating it is suitable for induction cooktops. Stove Doctor also recommend that you select cookware with a thick, flat bottom as the heat will be distributed better and cooking will be more uniform.
