The land was taken by the Muslims. Jewish people in the region collaborated with the Muslims. Several important cities were given to the Jews to govern and the Jews also provided a military surplus of men. Military organization underwent profound changes and began to become more complex. During the Middle Ages the Jews made economic and cultural gains. The region was heavily influenced by Jewish scholars, poets, and politics. It was also thought to be the capital of Jewish philosophy which had a great influence on the Muslim philosophers. The resut was a culuminative approach of philosophies of both Muslims and Jews.
