With the System Monitor SentinelTM (SMS) (which monitors operating variables and alarms), the system is designed to operate for several days, without operator attention. Maintenance personnel should be familiar with electric motors, rotating equipment such as pumps and air compressors, and have a passing knowledge of instrumentation and controls. Typically, state laws require a licensed wastewater plant operator to monitor a plant, but this can normally be done by contracting-out to a company that provides this service. • What type of maintenance is required? The routine maintenance requires changing of the inlet air filters on the blowers, every few weeks.
