Well "A Nightmare Before Christmas" can be considered a musical film since there’s a story interspersed with musical numbers. Danny Elfman is the composer for all the musical scores in the film as well as voicing the character Jack Skeleton’s singing voice. Elfman has such an eclectic resume of music that it’s impossible to label him as one "type." However, you can be sure his music takes on a darker, more rich sound whenever he collaborates with Tim Burton.

I don’t think it’s a “type.” All of the music to that movie was composed by Danny Elfman. His style is rather dark but wildly exuberant. He also composed the music to “Edward Scissorhand” and the first “Batman” in which Prince also composed a number or two. The music for “Corpse Bride,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and “Charlotte’s Web” are his also. In addition, the theme to “The Simpson’s” is his too. He and directory Tim Burton have worked together many times. Their favorite actor is Johnny Depp, of course. Who else? LOL! By the way, all of the soundtracks are available on CD.
