There are 4 types of modems: USB stick – this is the most popular choice and plugs directly into your laptop/computer for direct access to the internet. It is a portable and lightweight option, similar to a USB data stick. Dongle – this is similar size to a mobile phone. The wire attached plugs directly into your laptop/computer. Mobile Broadband Data Cards -are smaller than usb sticks but less popular. You also need to have plug and go software on your laptop/pc for them to work. Built-in Mobile Broadband laptops and netbooks – the mobile broadband and sim card is built in so you don’t need a portable modem.
