What type of Lawyer should i become, Solictor or Barrister?

If you are not sure, solicitor is probably the best option. My reason for saying this is that solicitors now have the option of becoming “solicitor advocates” with higher rights of audience, though doing so involves extra training. In other words, a solicitor can technically now do pretty much anything a barrister can, (except wear a wig in court)! Barristers, on the other hand, cannot yet work in the same way as solicitors, so going down this route will give you more flexibility. The split between the two branches of the profession is likely to close further in the future. Many senior lawyers believe we are heading towards an American style system where there is no division between barristers and solicitors.
