What type of large black bees make holes in wood?

0

They bore a nice 1/2″ round hole in fascias and soffits as well as window frames and wood siding. They are extremely hard to eliminate. I have asbestos shingles but painted wood trim. They ate holes in all my wood trim and I couldn’t stop them. Even an insect control company only got rid of them temporarily. Next Spring they were back in force. When I replaced the windows I had all my exposed wood covered in aluminum to defeat them. Now they still hang around but even they can’t bore through aluminum and vinyl.
