What type of jobs are available?
Classified (Full-Time) positions: There are more than 1,000 classified, salaried positions at the university performing a wide variety of work ranging from administrative, professional, office, clerical and skilled crafts to service and maintenance. Full-time classified employees are provided all Commonwealth of Virginia benefits, including vacation and sick leave, family personal leave, short-term disability benefits, medical and life insurance plans and a retirement program. The university also offers many training and development opportunities, including educational aid and special programs of instruction. Employees also have free use of JMU’s state-of-the-art recreation facility as well as the library. Wage (Part-Time) positions: The university also employs over 400 hourly employees in a wide variety of positions. Wage employees may work up to 1,500 hours of work per 365 consecutive-day period.
