What type of hiring process does CDC use?
Generally, CDC positions are filled through the competitive hiring process under delegated examining (DE) or merit promotion (MP) procedures. CDC may also fill positions thorough excepted service appointments. Delegated Examining (DE) • Positions are open to all U.S. citizens. Prior Federal experience is not required • Allows consideration of the top three ranked candidates • Veterans’ preference rules apply • U.S. citizenship is required Merit Promotion (MP) • Positions are open to current federal employees serving under a career or career conditional appointment; former federal employees with reinstatement eligibility; or employees eligible for appointment under special hiring authorities (e.g., certain veterans, persons with disabilities, Peace Corps volunteers, etc) • Allows consideration of the top ranked candidates • Veterans’ preference points are not applied • U.S. citizenship is required • All CDC job announcements filled through DE or MP procedures are posted to www.usajobs.g
