What type of guns may be used for IPSC ?
There are five match divisions, Open, Standard, Modified, Production and Revolver Standard. Each division is based on handgun type. IPSC is really the domain of the semi-automatic with very few people using revolvers. All semi-auto’s are limited to a maximum of 10 rounds within Australia, however in countries where they are still legal, magazines of up to 30 rounds may be used in Open division. Open Division: This is the formula 1 category of IPSC with the use of magazine wells, electronic sights, ported barrels, compensators, no minimum trigger weight and no maximum gun size. Usually shoot Major Power Factor of a minimum 160. Standard Division: These guns are not allowed electronic sights, ported barrels or compensators however there is no minimum trigger weight. The guns must also fit inside a box that measures 225 x 150 x 45mm. Usually shoot Minor Power Factor or a minimum 125.
