What type of glass is used to make neon lights?
In the U.S. neon is primarily made from lead glass because of it’s ease of workability and for it’s light refraction properties. Soda glass is sometimes used because it can be colored but it is much more expensive. Neon can be made from borosilicate glass, and is done so in Europe, but it requires different manufacturing process and is much more expensive.
