You’re going to be very limited as several of your fish will not tolerate rooted plants (The Iridescent Shark, Columbian Shark*, and “very big algae eater” among them). Because of this, you’re gonna have to use plants that can attach themselves to rocks or wood, so Java Moss, Java Fern, and Anubias as well as a few floating plants like Hornwort, Duckweed, and Water Sprite are your best options. Tie the Moss, Fern, or Anubias to a rock or wood with cotton string or fishing line until they can “dig in” with their rhizomes. Allow the Hornwort, Duckweed, and/or Water Sprite to float and grow at the surface. Since none of those plants root in the substrate, a fertilized gravel/sand is unnecessary. You should consider adding a liquid fertilizer, like Flourish, to your water, though, so the plants at least get some extra nutrients. All the plants I listed above will be fine in a VERY low-tech tank with standard lighting and no CO2. Also, beware of Dwarf Hairgrass– it NEEDS CO2 injection and
