What type of food should be avoided for woman during pregnancy?
All food that comes out of cans or packets is best avoided. Unseasonal food is avoidable. Food products that are highly refined, e.g. maida and sugar based are avoidable. Alcohol is to be avoided. Food with ajinomoto, i.e. mono sodium glutamate mostly present in soup powders, chips packets and Chinese cooking is also not advisable. Also avoid strong tea, coffee, colas and chocolates. The stronger they are, more the caffeine in them. Caffeine is a substance that prevents calcium and iron absorption. So, if had at all, they are best between meals when no other food is present for digestion. Between meals the caffeine will only make you pass more urine, which could flush out vitamins B and C with it. Foods with excessive salt like pickles, papads, sardines, ham, bacon, dried fish are to be avoided.
