What type of food is rocket?
Para, there are lots of regional names for common food items. Such as most of the (English-speaking) world calls coriander coriander, but in the US it’s called cilantro for some reason – probably a Spanish or Italian influence somewhere along the way. Rocket = arugula in the US – similar story to the coriander/cilantro. Swede = rutabaga in the US. Sweet potato (called kumara in NZ and by some people in Australia) = yam in the southern US. In the UK, where they uncharacteristically (seeing they are supposed to despise each other) borrow the French words, eggplant is called aubergine, and zucchini are called courgettes. Australia sides with the US on those 2 names. In Australia, we call all squashes pumpkins. For instance butternut squash in the US (and UK) is butternut pumpkin in Australia. Capsicum in Australia = bell pepper in the US. Pawpaw in Australia = papaya in the US. There are others – try finding consistent names for choko, okra, bitter melon, spring onions, and so on. And eve
