What type of financial aid is available?
Three primary sources exist for financial aid for graduate students. These include financial aid, dean’s fellowships, and graduate assistantships. A limited number of dean’s fellowships are available each term. Apply online at the link below. Graduate assistantships allow students the opportunity to pursue an MBA degree at a full-time pace. Graduate assistants work in an academic department in exchange for part or all of their tuition. Graduate assistants also receive a stipend. A typical graduate assistant will work 20 hours a week. Assistantships are limited each year and are very competitive. In order to be considered for a graduate assistant position in the School of Business, you must be fully accepted as an MBA student.
The Doctoral Program admissions committee considers all applicants who indicated an interest in merit-based financial aid on their application (see page 8 of application) for a limited number of 100% and 50% tuition remission scholarships that last until the degree coursework requirements have been met. Most admitted students receive some form of scholarship. In addition, various research assistantships and paid teaching opportunities are available to doctoral students. Eligibility for need-based aid administered by NYU’s Office of Financial Aid in the form of TAP, Perkins, Stafford, and SLS Loans is determined by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants are encouraged to complete and submit these forms at the time the admission application is submitted. There are a few ways in which FAFSA forms can be requested or completed.
