I have one with the planter option, and one without – the without one is a little more cobbled up than the with, so I’ll describe the process of the “with” I started by ditching below grade level, and making postholes. I set 4X4 pressure treated ground contact posts, in my case, 8′ posts with 2’6″ down and 4’6″ up from grade. I put pressure treated ground contact planking with the top set 1/2″ above grade, so the ditch would backfill onto the planking. I put pressure treated deck wood 2X6 planking on top of that, so there was 4′ of post extending up from the top of the upper planking. I stapled vinyl coated field fencing to the posts and horizontal planking on the INSIDE of the fence. I put a block on the outside of the fence to widen the spacing, and put more planking on the outside to make a raised planter.
