There are different fabrics to choose from and here are some choices to review: Sunbrella – Sunbrella fabric is a solution dyed fabric which locks in the color. Color doesn’t fade or wash out. This type of fabric is water repellant, not waterproof. The water repellant may need to be reapplied to keep it’s resistance. Sunbrella fabric also provides 98% UV protection. This protection is determined by the color of your umbrella. White and light colors do not provide as much UV protection as do darker colors. SolarVista – Is the same as Sunbrella in it’s qualities of fade resistance and UV protection, but is a lighter weight fabric. Coolaroo – Is an open-weave fabric with loose woven fibers that allows the air underneath to escape, reducing the temperature below the umbrella by 32%. This material also protects from UV rays. Olefin – Is a durable light weight, weather and sunlight resistant
Sunbrella is the top of the line material when it comes to patio umbrellas. This material is fade-resistant, stain-resistant, and will last for many years with little maintenace. Any material that is designed for long term outdoor use will work, but if you want the top of the line material, go with Sunbrella.
