Actually, there’s very little difference between wearing black or white material under a hot sun. While the black material does absorb more radiated heat, it allows less through than the paler material. Hold a dark and light piece of material up to a light and you’ll see (and radiated heat is just infra-red light, so you get the same effect). Of course, the hot black material conducts heat to the skin which balances out the greater transmitted heat of the pale fabric.
