The exam is a two or three part exam taken over 1 or 2 days. Local exams vary from several hours to all day. State Certified exams are typically take 2 days. The Business and Finance day is currently moving to a Computer Based Testing system where you actually go to a Pearson-Vue computer center to take that part of your exam (which may be closer to you as well). Certified Technical Exams: • General, Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical and Air Conditioning A – 1 full day exam with 80-110 questions (two 4 1/2 hour sessions) • Air Conditioning B, Sheet Metal, Solar, Drywall, Roofing, Swimming Pool, Specialty Structure, Pollutant Storage, Underground Utilities / Excavation and Marine Contractor – 1/2 day exam with 40-130 questions (4 1/2 hour session) • Electrical Contractors – 1 day Call or email us (info@contractorsinstitute.com) for more information on the state exams, or check with your local building department about the county exams.
