What type of equipment and software is required for low frequency neurofeedback?
[ Top ] A: I believe that the Othmers did much of their early low frequency neurofeedback using Bioexplorer software and the NeuroAmp. In 2008 they released a hardware and software package, Cygnette, designed according to their specifications using a programming environment called BioEra. The complete Othmer system is very reasonably priced and has the support of the pioneers in the field. I believe, however, that it is limited to neurofeedback and does not allow extensive reconfiguration. John Anderson has used as many or more different systems than anyone. He has been using Nexus exclusively since its introduction several years ago. Both Cygnette and Nexus allow you to work down to the 0.01 – 0.10 Hz range that is described in the literature. With other systems you may not be able to work as reliably at such low frequencies. Check with your vendor or manufacturer. Of equal importance, however, is the software. An important aspect of the low frequency protocol, as developed by the Oth
