What type of energy is stored in a lamp, drum, and a rubber band?
A lamp that’s OFF, a drum that hasn’t been struck with a drumstick, and a rubber band laying on your desk are all types of POTENTIAL energy. The lamp isn’t doing anything except waiting to be turned on, at which time it will convert electrical energy which excites a filament enough to produce light, giving off heat as well due to the inefficiency of light bulbs. A drum doesn’t “do” anything until struck, at which point it vibrates. A rubber band stretched over one finger and pulled backwards at the other end and then “let go” will fling itself across the room, due to the stored-then-released energy activated by the ‘torsion’ which you put on the rubber band by pulling it.
