What type of electricity do cell phones run on?
Cell phones run on DC power, but many people are confused by the pluging of the charger into the AC outlet on their homes. Bacisically the AC outlet in you home is converted by your phone charger into a DC voltage for battery charging. In you car you typically have a car charger that used the straight DC voltage from you cigarette lighter. Some people my use an inverter in their car that plugs into the DC cigarette lighter and inverts this DC voltage to AC so that they can use there home charger (AC) to charge their phone. The conversions losses in doing this are pretty high and it is just best to us the DC car charger.
