None of those little ‘tests’ are legitimate at all. The BEST dog for you is one that fits into your situation and frankly the majority of people with dogs aren’t suitable at all to even own dogs so you need to decide if you are even a suitable home at all. As far as IF you are suitable to own a dog and will educate yourself well BEFORE making this decision, then you can know what it is you are wanting in a dog – what you want it for and what characteristics you like/need. Once you have figured out your needs and the specific characteristics, you can either go to a shelter and check some dogs out, or you can go to AKC website and review the various breeds. Then go to the parent club sites of those that you feel might be suitable and contact breeder referral, not to get a dog but to get information from a knowledgeable, responsible breeder.
