What type of different hormones are there?
Structurally, there are four types of hormones. Steroid hormones are made from cholesterol, with largely hydrocarbon-like molecules. Polypeptide hormones include growth factors as well as insulin, oxytocin, and thyroid-stimulating hormones. Prostaglandins are now considered to be local hormones, because they work where they are made. Hormones like epinephrine and thyroxine are simple amino compounds.
