What type of contracts and receipts do I need to provide with the General Contractor application?
We need three copies of at least two sample contracts and receipts. Any sample contracts will be sufficient. I already have a DC Home Improvement Contractors License. Do I need a General Contractors License? Yes, if you plan to conduct commercial work, or accept contracts valued at $500,000 or higher. A Home Improvement Contractors License only allows you to perform home improvements. You can upgrade your Home Improvement license to a General Contractor’s license which covers all Home Improvement work. The costs to upgrade will be prorated. If you are a General Contractor who also does Home Improvement work you do not need a Home Improvement Contractor’s license, but all staff involved in home improvement sales are required to obtain a Home Improvement Sales license.
