There are two types of contact mechanism used in SMarTconn terminal blocks: 26.1 Elevator style clamping where the terminal body is elevated by the acting screw, up to the connecting point where a solid and reliable mechanical contact is made between the wire and the terminal body. An example of SMarTconn terminal block with an elevator style mechanism is 140-A-524-SMD. 26.2 Wire protector mechanism, where the wire protector is pushed down by the acting screw up to a point were the wire is well protected and retained between the terminal body and the wire protector. This type of contact mechanism is preferred for connecting stranded wires. An example of a SMarTconn terminal block with a wire protector mechanism is 930-T-D-SMD.
