What type of cockatoo makes a good companion?
Both of these are good choices, and you can add the Greater Sulfur Crested and Moluccan to the list. These larger cockatoos are very loving. The smaller (Goffins, Rose Breasted, and Bare Eyed) can be loving also, but do not have the personality that the larger breeds have. But, be warned……they can be extremely loud, and demand a lot of attention. If you don’t have the time each day to devote to this breed, you are better off finding another. Not getting the attention they require each day can lead to feather picking , screaming and other behavior problems. Also, a bite from these birds is very painful. Their upper and lower beaks are equally sharp and when they bite they don’t just pierce the skin, they also cut the skin. It’s a nasty bite. I think you would be happy with anyone of the birds you mention. But you need to be around it for awhile to be sure. Visit the bird, where ever you are planning on getting it, go a few different times, and go at different times of day. Be sure o
