What type of Capoeira Skill or movement will i be taught if im First timer/Beginner?
I’m coming up on 4 months of Capoeira training, so what I’ve learned may be helpful. It’s important to note however, that a good mestre will teach you to your limit of ability and then push you. For this reason you may find that you are taught fewer kicks (which I was already pretty comfortable with) and more acrobatics (which I officially suck at) than what I’ve done. The very first class that I went to was painful. Mestre took the time to really push me to find out what I could already do – you could see the calculations in his head as he asked me to repeat various movements after him. It was rather comprehensive of the basic moves that are taught – at least up until the point that I was unable to do them. Specifically we started with flexibility and balance, things like how well I could do a bridge, how well I could do a handstand, and how controlled my high kicks were.
