What type of artwork will be placed in the park?
One of the functions of the park is to provide space for artistic expression. Sculptures will be located near the Madison, Monroe, and Jackson Plazas. Bronze “Waterdance” monuments will be placed at intersections along Second Street to mark the area as the Riverfront District. A larger monument will mark the south entry into the Riverfront District near the intersection of B Avenue and Second Streets. Gateway monuments, reminiscent of steamboat days, will enliven the Van Buren, Monroe and Madison intersections with First Street and will be used to close off First Street for special events (see drawing to the left).
