The concentration of contaminants in low level contaminated soils are stipulated by the EPA publication 448.1 Classification of Wastes. Please refer to copy attached or see the EPA website. The level of contaminants in the soil, usually hydrocarbons and heavy metals, must be less than the limits set in Table 3 and greater than that stipulated in Table 2 within this document. Latrobe City currently charges $70.00 (+GST) for low level contaminated soil, some metropolitan landfills have no charge. We require testing from a NATA approved laboratory to confirm the waste soil fits the criteria set by EPA and we perform an additional test on site to confirm these results, again by a NATA approved laboratory. It is preferable that a different lab is used for this testing but not mandatory. This material is not common. Since July 2000 Latrobe City has accepted 98.64 tonnes of low level contaminated soil or 0.03% of the total waste accepted in this time (almost 350,000 tonnes). We do not expect
