The iPod (1st Generation), iPod (2nd Generation), and iPod (3rd Generation) use the PortalPlayer PP5002 (note “two”) “system on a chip” which features dual embedded 90 MHz ARM 7TDMI processors. The iPod mini, iPod (4th Generation), iPod “Color” (20 GB), iPod U2 Special Edition, iPod U2 Special Edition “Color”, iPod photo (30 GB), and iPod photo/Color (40, 60 GB) use the PortalPlayer PP5020 (note “twenty”) “system on a chip” which features dual embedded 80 MHz ARM 7TDMI processors, for extended battery life. The iPod mini (2nd Generation) uses the PortalPlayer PP5022 (note “twenty two”) “system on a chip”. The iPod shuffle uses a 75 MHz SigmaTel D-Major STMP 3550 processor. The iPod nano uses the PortalPlayer PP5021C “system on a chip”, as does the iPod 5G/video, but the iPod 5G/video also includes a Broadcom VideoCore BCM2722 processor for video decoding.
