What two systems regulate and coordinate body functions?
It is the endocrine system and the nervous system. Both systems combine to function in the maintenance of homeostasis within the body. The nervous system functions to adapt to changes in the environment of an organism. When a stimulus is received is causes a response (excitement) in the specialized structures and receptors of that cell. These excitations are then passed on to the effectors of a cell via cell conductors which allow the organism to adapt to the changed conditions. The nervous system is relatively fast acting with responses and changes as compared to the endocrine system whose responses develop more slowly. The nervous systems responses last more briefly than do the endocrine systems who last much longer.
