What triggered the idea of combining dance with therapy?
Tripura: My brother was born with disabilities. I observed that music had a soothing effect on him. The thought that music could heal people grabbed my attention. Since then I decided to explore the therapeutic value of dance. I studied dance therapy and contemporary dance at Hancock Center, USA and also completed my Masters in Psychology. Brinda: When I started performing, I experienced immense joy and satisfaction. I was confident that dance could heal people. When I met Tripura, she briefed me about the scientific way of using dance and I immediately packed my bags and went to study dance therapy in the UK. I started The Studio for Movement Arts and Therapies, where performing artistes from various disciplines come together to share and create new movement experience.
