What trends have emerged in the types of films people submit?
BB: Because of technology, people want to comment on their life and I think a lot of it is, hey, this is our spot. This is what we do. We’re getting a lot of BMX movies that are ten minutes long that are like, this is what we’ve made and what we’re doing. The special thing is that they’re commenting on what’s happening where they live. They’re not pros but they want to show what they’re all about. They feel entitled to do that because they have the technology and want to do it. We don’t have to show just the Aaron Chases of the world. DR: The festival will globe trot to London and Tokyo again this year. Will it hit China soon? BB: It’s funny you should mention China, because a company wants to bring the festival to Beijing. They’re a European company but they’re starting mountain biking events there and they want to bring the festival over.
