What treatment is available for ovarian cysts & can it interfere with pregnancy?

kara_p_uk … I have just had my first baby and like you had an ovarian cyst of similar size. It is likely you suffer from Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). You will likely have had it scanned as you seem to know the size. Your GP should arrange for you to see a consultant to discuss it. If it is a standard fluid filled cyst, it is unlikely to cause you, or the baby any problems and it will be left alone if it is causing you no pain (see below) Remember a baby is a pretty heavy and sizeable thing compared to a ball of fluid, it will just squish it out the way if it needs to as it grows. The most likely outcome is that, as long as it is positioned out of the way of the uterus, you will be able to have a normal vaginal birth. What is likely though, is that if you were to have a C-Section for whatever reason, your consultant will ask that during the procedure the cyst is removed at the same time. If you have a vaginal birth, your consultant will likely want to see you at the 6 weeks check
