Guidance on preparation and training can be found on the Department of Health website for both supplementary and independent prescribing and also in the Department of Health guides ‘Improving patients’ access to medicines: A guide to implementing nurse and pharmacist independent prescribing within the NHS in England’ and ‘Supplementary Prescribing by Nurses, Pharmacists, Chiropodists/Podiatrists, Physiotherapists and Radiographers within the NHS in England’. Your trust or strategic health authority (SHA) non-medical prescribing (NMP) lead should be able to advise you on where training is available in your area.
