What training does a naturopath have?
There are only four, 4-year naturopathic medical schools in the country. The degree is awarded after 4-5 years of classroom, clinic, and preceptor hours, and two sets of state board exams. They must have a bachelors degree in pre-med or related field before attending a naturopathic medical school. Along with studies in natural medicine, naturopathic physicians also are trained in: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, lab diagnosis, immunology, radiology, cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, dermatology, pharmacology, gynecology, minor surgery, and clinical and physical diagnosis.
