To be a full time career teacher, you will need a four year degree. Many states want that degree to be in education, but some states do not , and only require a four year degree in any field. (I happen to know an old schoolmate who got a drama degree and went on to teach school in Louisiana for example.) Most states(but not all) require a PRAXIS test in order to get teacher certification.
