What Toyota 4 cylinder engine has 8 spark plugs?
The 3T-GTE and the 4T-GTE both used ‘twin spark’ ignition systems. The 3T used a CT-20 turbocharger to produce 160 hp and 152 ft/lbs. The 4T was a homogolated race engine that produced 180 hp in 1.8 liter street trim, and between 370 and 600 hp in full race trim. I beleive that the twin spark ignition (two spark plugs per cylinder) Allowed on plug to fire at a time, creating a larger flame front and more completely combusting the air fuel mixture. This allows less fuel to be wasted, and more of the fuels potential energy is utilized. This can also result in cleaner emissions as there is less unburnt fuel in the exhaust.
