You’ll want to check the local venue. While some competitions require formal wear specially made for dancing, that almost certainly won’t be the case in your situation; however, there are places that require men to wear a jacket, where in many, even so much as a necktie would be out of place. Best bet for you would be a tea dress, but one never can be sure, and some ladies may be wearing slacks.
