For starters try using a larger bowl so the stuff is not close to the top of the bowl. That will prevent splashing over and the very top of the bowl won’t be quite as hot. You may even want to use something that is a different material. – Make sure that you cover the bowl with either a paper towel or saran wrap when you cook it. That will prevent stuff from splashing up in the microwave and help to catch stuff that may come out as you are transporting it. – Use either one of those flat pot holders, a towel, or an oven-mit as a barrier between your hands and the bowl. I personally stick with a flat pot holder but it’s just a matter of preference.
