What to pack for August weather in SAN FRANCISCO?
mid 60s is the average high for August (and most every other month, for that matter – the real difference between seasons here is rainfall, not temperature), which has been the norm lately (though a couple days have been warmer and the forecast says upper 60s next week). The lows aren’t that much lower (mid 50s). So it’s neither hot nor cold, but rather tepid. Can be windy. Very unlikely there will be any rain (average rainfall for August is a whopping 0″). Pack whatever you see fit. The cliche is that layers are best, and there’s some truth to that. There’s nothing sadder than seeing a tourist in flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt expecting “warm, sunny California” and ending up pay $30 for a sweatshirt at some crap store preying on such naivety.
