What to Ice Cores and CO2 concentrations tell us?
[Read the article: One brief shining moment for clean energy] [Read more letters about this article: Here] Osama Bin Loggin, I believe with a little unbiased research, easily available from numerous internet sources, you will discover: (1) Ice core samples indicate ppm of C02 in the atmosphere have been higher in the past than they are today, but more importantly, (2)higher ppm of CO2 are a lagging indicator of global warming; i.e. higher concentrations of CO2 are to be expected from a warmer earth, and the earth has been warmer many times in the past than it is today. Some concrete proof of this fact is that Romans grew grapes in England for wine (recorded history), Greenland got its name because in the recent past, it was warm enough to support much more natural flora than at present, the melting glaciers in Scandinavian countries reveal ancient abandoned mines, to mention just a few. In other words, higher ppm of CO2 is a RESULT of a warmer earth, not a CAUSE of a warmer earth. (3)
