What to expect when going to Taize?
I have not been there for some years so I do not know what the mobile phone reception is like, but knowing the place, you will be expected not to use your phone other than to let the folks back home that everything is OK. They used to have some phone booths for that, I assume it is now mobiles. But as the place is on the top of a hill, I am sure reception is going to be good, or at least possible. Expect to meet people. Outside the church (3 times a day) and the discussions, (2 times a day) you will be chatting with folks you meet by chance, or with the group you came with. Meal times are also great times to chat up with people, waiting to be served, or sitting down eating. Often people bring musical instruments and play together, in small groups or on ocasion for/with the whole of the people there at the time. Bathrooms are still simple, but have very much improved since I first visited in the mid 80’s, now there is warm water and sit down toilets. Food is still simple but adequate, c
