What to expect from a whippet…?
By instinct, ANY dog will set and watch you eat and beg for food if you allow them in the eating area. I don’t because they DO beg, and they throw dander and hair that can get in the food. I keep them away from eating areas. You can put him in his crate, or gate him in a different room, or put him outside until you finish eating. You do know that a Whippet is a finely tuned dog and can’t be treated roughly or put under a lot of stress. so you don’t want him stressing over food while you eat. It’s not a good idea to give any dog food scraps, but if you let him set there and beg, I guarantee you that you WILL end up giving him scraps, right?. I do! That’s why I gate them in another part of the house til the meal is over. The Whippet looks like a small greyhound. He is graceful and slender, but actually quite hardy.
